Cheap Paintings

Where can I frame paintings for cheap?

I have some paintings that I wanted to frame. They are 12x24 and 40x48. Where can I frame them for cheap in NYC? I am looking for quality wooden frames. Thank you.

  1. Hi There! Well, I don't live in NYC so I can't give you the name of a good place but I would like to suggest doing it yourself. You can find good wood frames at Hobby Lobby, and even better ones at pawn shops, though you have to be able to do some digging. You can buy card stock at Hobby Lobby as well. If you use an exact-o knife it will look really professional. Doing it yourself, you get to be creative and get a very customized framing for your art! I hope that helps! All The Best, Lexie
  2. I would go to a thrift store and find good quality frames that are surrounding ugly art. either refinish the frames or spray paint them a matte black. I have done this many times and have received compliments from friends who shop at expensive frame shops.
  3. I would agree with funnyhah. I have a friend that only gets frames from thrift store, Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. All are fine.
  4. My brother actually makes his own frames. He's used all kind of scrap wood and moldings. He sometimes carves designs into them and paints or finishes them. If you've got a saw and a hammer. . .
