Where can I find cheap paintings from local artist?

I have been wanting to buy some local art to jazz up my place but I am on limited funds.

1. Contact your local Fine Art School. When I attended Art School we always had an 'affordable Art Sale' at end of term. Great for students and public. Visit local exhibitions of Art competitions. Most of the exhibits would be on sale for reasonable prices.
2. Visit local arts and crafts materials store. There are usually bulletin boards on which artists advertise, post their business cards, and list art for sale. Don't expect it cheap, but sometimes an artist will have works that they will discount or sell for less when you buy two or more pieces. But just as you wouldn't want to have to negotiate your paycheck on payday, don't expect an artist to want to negotiate on a work of art they have for sale.
