Cheap Paintings

What are some great ways to save money?

I will be 18 in a few months, then graduating and taking a couple years off of school to just work and live on my own before going to college (I am graduating with my AA degree so I am already 2 years ahead. I just want a break from school for a while and then I'll go to a university as a junior on scholarship). During the 2 years that I'm taking off from school, I will be on a very tight budget (estimated around $13,000/year) and I need little ways to save money here and there. I will be living in a very small apartment for low rent. I'll handwash my clothes to save about $450 on laundromat fees. Instead of buying posters, paintings, and other wall-art, I'll buy cheap frames and use the fronts of greeting and post cards and old calender page pictures for wall decor. I just need little ways like these to save money, because it all adds up! Thanks! Please do not give me websites to make money. I am asking how to SAVE money that I am legitimitely making from my job - NOT how to make additional money. Also, I do have a budget all drawn out and I am the type of person who will have NO problem sticking to it. I know how to manage my money, I just would like to know of extra ways to save more so I have more to spend on the fun things in life.

  1. there is a website called freecycle.com. you put in your zipcode and basically it is people who have all kinds of stuff they want to get rid of but not throw out so they give it away for free. you will probably just have to go and pick it up. i know someone who got almost their whole apartment worth of furniture for free.
  2. Don't buy the little tempting things like chocolate. It may seem silly but it will save you money!
  3. Don't get a t.v. and pay cable or Dish fees. Watch t.v. shows and movies free online using your computer. Try this site: www.hulu.com
  4. I believe that the best way to save money is to come up with a budget (a realistic one) on and stick to it. Decide where you money is going before you get it and don't go off track. I went though a money managing course at a local church that really helped my husband and I out A LOT and it is highly recommended. It is Financial Peace University hosted by Dave Ramsey. It was the best thing that I ever did. And if you can get involved though the church they usually cover the costs of the course. Good Luck!
