home decor please. I have red curtains and brown microfiber couches. I need some ideas for wall decor. Cheap?
i have some lamps that match with curtains, but i need some ideas; for walls and throw pillows, there is also a big black mirror with black sconces, and black candle holders, black table, black clock, black curtain rod, so it has to match......

- NO MORE BLACK in this room! Maybe move sconces, mirror, or clock to different area? 1] Paint walls ivory 2] add red candles, flowers 3] artwork with some red, a LITTLE black, some ivory. Try framed or laminated posters, photos, cheap paintings for Bed,Bath & Beyond, etc. 4] add some gold OR silver - in pic frames, gilded or silvered ivory or red vases; pillows of red or ivory with gold or silver 5] can add some gold or silver to black mirror [ paint or ribbon, depending on design ]. 6] live plant, in red, gold [ brass ], or silver [ chrome ] pots 7] put a color [ ivory, red, gold or silver ] on each table/flat surface
- Buy some inexpensive frames ( make sure they are the right scale for the room--not to large or small. Enlarge some pictures, photos of kids in black and while and frame in a group. You can use your computer if you have one to enlarge the pics or take them to a copy shop. Even large copies are cheap. Find the frames at the Goodwill, TJ Maxx, outlet type stores (not the mall) Use the same frame to unify the collections. Red frames or brown or black is my suggestion. Put over couch. An idea I used is to buy a mirror that was part of a dresser set and put the mirror over the couch--it gives the room dimesion, light and makes the room feel bigger. These can be found at used furniture stores, garage sales. The right plant always freshes a room. No artificials, please. Buy a matte from Walmart and paint your own picture(modern art if you can't paint) using the colors in the room plus a little of an unexpected color and hand. No matting or framing needed. Good luck! - i would try to incorporate some natural textures into your decor to soften up the feel of all the black accents. Id suggest some leather or faux-leather cushions in either a chocolate brown or a deep red-brown. A bamboo slat area rug in a mid-brown shade. bamboo window blinds. maybe a table top made of multi-color natural slate tiles. an abstract painting done in muted earth tones (rust, brown, ocher, sage).
