Cheap Paintings

What cheap and good scanner would you recommend?

I would mostly use it for drawings and paintings. The cheaper- the better.

  1. I would get one that uses LEDs instead of a fluorescent light. They don't have the high voltage power supply a fluorescent one requires and don't have to 'warm up' the lamp. They also use such little power that you don't need a separate power supply. It gets power through the USB cable - which means you can use it in the park with a laptop. I have a Canon, which calls its LED scanners LiDE. It is small, scans negatives or slides, and does a great job on images and documents. Search tigerdirect.com and cdw.com for "canon lide." You will see what I'm talking about.
  2. Get the HP G-3110. Its under $100, does 9600 dpi, and scans very quickly and easy to setup as well.
