Cheap Paintings

Looking for cheap wall art ideas?

Where can I get canvas prints or some other kind of wall art for a good price. In other words I am looking for something big that I can either make myself (which I am not an artist) or buy that would be less than $150. And by big I mean around 4 or 5 five long. I really like the pictures that are on different canvases, but I am looking more or less for a good deal. Anybody know any good websites?? or anything??? Thanks.

  2. In my area they have these starving artists sales at major hotels a couple of times a year. Things are pretty cheap there. Maybe watch your newspaper or tv commercials for that kind of thing. Or you can always go to garage sales. good luck
  3. Try the 2nd hand shops in your community. You'll be amazed at the artwork you will find! You have a pretty tall order for something the size you want, dear. Consider a 3-piece grouping that can be installed together. No artistic talent you say? Poo to that. Buy 3 pieces of canvas that are stapled to a work frame. Pick up a package of stencils & the paint & utensils. Practice on a cardboard box until you feel comfortable, and go for it!
  4. I've several ideas: 1. Photocopy Enlargement - Have a copy of your favorite print, photo, poster, etc enlarged. The link below allows you to price custom sizes. Because you said you wanted it big, I priced a 3 ft x 6 ft enlargement and it came out to just under $55. http://www.vivyxprinting.com/awoffer.asp?Source=ADWORDS&gclid=CK-7veDq7qYCFcbc4AodIlb7HQ From here, you have several options. You can frame it ($$$$), You can purchase a canvas and attach it to the canvas (somewhat like decoupage but you wouldn't cut it up, then apply a protective layer of say polyurethane over it).($$$). An idea that I really love, and is very cheap is to go to your big box home improvement store and buy a large piece (4 x 8) of polystyrene insulation - it is a panel. They range in price from $10-$20. Attach (decoupage like) the large print you've had made to the panel. The panel is rigid (so you don't need to frame it) but lightweight so hanging something this large on the wall will be extremely easy. So, for around $65-$74, you'll have "custom" wall art. 2. Enlarge onto Canvas - This link takes you to a site that will enlarge your photo and put it directly on canvas for you. A 3 ft x 5 ft piece of canvas would be around $115. http://www.largeformatposters.com/cheap-canvas-printing.html 3. Grouped Art - You can buy inexpensive smaller pieces of canvas (like 18 x 24) and create an abstract piece of painted wall art. If, for example, you buy 6 of these canvases, and hung them together, you could create a large piece of wall art. Six canvases will cost you under $34, and you can get as creative as you like. Canvas: http://www.misterart.com/canvas/stretched-canvas/discovery-economy-stretched-canvas.html Example of a grouping of similar art: http://images.bizrate.com/resize?sq=450&uid=884650331 4. Hang small (10 x 12) prints in a group. If you don't have prints, you can buy pretty sheets of paper that are often used for scrap booking and create an interesting collection. 5. Buy a very large piece of heavy duty upholstery fabric (you only really need 1 yard so it should be cheap). Hem off the edges (you can do this with hemming tape if you can't sew). Attach it to the wall with window treatment hardware (think tapestry here, only at a fraction of the cost).
  5. Try buying some fabric and stretching it over a wood frame and hanging it or three that you could hang in a row. Also you could put a silk handkerchief (iron it) and frame from a thrift store to display. Any signs and graphics store can print a large wall decal for you
  6. Hello, My wife and I own a small giclee print shop in Mesa, AZ. Large Format Giclee printing is the top of line printing method. Giclee prints are 100% archival, very high quality prints that will last a lifetime (or longer), meaning they won't yellow or fade over time. Our specialty is Giclee printing onto stretched canvas. Stretched canvas giclees look very sharp and are becoming more and more popular for photo printing. Although, we do offer a variety of different photo papers as well as textured and other fine art papers. We can print up to 40"x60". Here are a few options that you have: 1.) You can print on canvas with a "gallery wrap", meaning the image stretches around the sides, and can be hung as is without the expense of a frame. 2.) You can get the "gallery wrap" as a tryptic peice, where one photo is broken down into three separate canvas prints. Here is an example - http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1425/1410805806_70b482e921.jpg?v=0 3.) You can have a canvas print done without the "gallery wrapped" sides and purchase a large frame. 4.) You can print on photo or textured paper and have that elegantly matted and framed. As for the photo, we can purchase any stock photo for you with one of our accounts or we have a photographer in studio that shoots mostly European scenery that can be printed up to 40"x60", or you can use one of your own photos.
