Cheap Paintings

How do I fill a large empty wall?

I have about 20 feet wide by 8 feet high of space to fill. I need a very inexpensive way to fill the space, about a $30-40 budget. I'm open to creative DIY art projects or even a place that I can print out a large image for cheap. I live in Orlando, FL.

  1. Depends really on your tastes... Magazine Cut outs, Flyers, Posters, Tacky art. What is the atmosphere your going for?
  2. Could try using the rasterbator. Takes Images, Prints them how you want them (some options are pretty artsy) Check it out: http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/galleryimage.gas?10966
  3. Buy some "tester" pots of paint in your favourite colours (or ones to match/blend with the rest of the room) and create a border of symmetrical shapes 2 feet off the floor and 2 feet down from the ceiling, creating a 4 feet wide border.
  4. Hang an inexpensive 5' x 8' rug on the wall, bordered by a few nice pictures. Another suggestion is to buy some fabric of a color of your choice, cut it out to a particular shape, frame it with simple 1" x 2" lumber painted to your liking. I mean simple shapes like elongated diamonds, squares, triangles etc. I once had a very large wall that I fastened three interlocking squares of different sizes to, to represent my three young sons. The background main wall was beige, the frames were made of lattice and painted tan Each square or part of, was painted a different pastel color.
  5. Think about what you like, find an image and stick to the wall. Another thing you can do is to make some paintings . If you have a piece of wood thin which looks like a paper, you can stick there an image or one of your paintings. Or you can try to buy an open closet, to put there some books. Or put a big flower.
